Can you believe it’s already the middle of December? This month is flying by. It’ll be 2015 before we know it. It’ll also be marathon-training time soon, so that’s exciting. This week was just another week of base-building. Here’s how it looked.
Monday:
6.5 easy miles and 30ish minutes of strength training. It was SO HOT in the gym. Seriously, I thought I was dying. Here’s a bunch of nasty sweatiness for you. You like it.
Tuesday:
5.5 miles of treadmill hill intervals. They were short (30 seconds with 1-minute recoveries), but steep and fast. It was hard. I hope this is making me strong and fast, because otherwise these hill workouts are just a suckfest.
Wednesday:
I never run outside when it’s dark because I almost always run alone, but Jaylin and I got together to preview the course for our fun run this coming week. I enjoyed our run and wish we could do it more often. Thursday night should be a great time, though!
When I got home, I did 30 minutes of basement strength training.
Thursday:
7 miles easy, finished with some short and quick “hill” sprints.
Friday:
35 minutes on the spin bike and 30 minutes of weights.
Saturday:
6.1 easy miles. We had to be in Denver by 9, so I had to run on the treadmill to avoid the darkness. Weekend treadmilling is lame.
Sunday:
14.3 miles. You know how some runs are awesome and everything feels great? This was not one of those. It was hard and unpleasant. But it was also my longest run since September and I got it in before the wind and snow came, so it wasn’t all bad.
Totals: 43.9 miles (I hate it when I’m not paying attention and end on a .9. Now I want to go run .1 miles), 35 minutes cycling, 1.5 hours strength
And now I’m going to go eat some soup, address some Christmas cards, and cross my fingers for a snow day tomorrow. (Just kidding; a snow day at the start of finals week would not be a good thing).
Is it snowy where you are?
Tell me about your most fun workout recently.
Hooray for marathon-training coming up! And finals week, which leads to no school for two weeks! Woot!
Are you guys off for 2 full weeks, too?
I need to do more strength. Every time I read your posts and see all your workouts I realize that you are strong and fast because you work on all areas! Remind me to do that! lol. Great job on the week of workouts 🙂
Hey, do strength training. There, I reminded you. 😉
I hate when I end on a .9 also. So aggravating! Your weeks are always so amazing to me.
Yours are equally amazing. And crazy-fast.
I actually woke up to snow this morning, but only a couple inches. It sounds like you had a great week of workouts, regardless if your long run didn’t feel so great. 14+ miles on any given day should be something to be proud of.
I haven’t worked out at all this week and it has been really nice. I’m ready to get back into the swing of things though and will likely make my way to the gym sometime this week.
Good luck during finals and cheers to ALMOST winter break! ☺
It’s nice to take some time off sometimes!
Your finger crossing worked! Thanks for that! I didn’t have to take half a sick day to go to the doctor! I don’t have finals, so it doesn’t throw me off any. Sorry that it does you though!
Good luck during the finals 😉
We have a Little snow now (thank goodness, I’ve been waiting for it for so long haha – I’m one of those people who NEEDS snow on Christmas for it to feel real, if that makes sense haha). Haven’t worked out much for the last weeks.. 🙂
We actually hardly ever have white Christmases here.. our snowier months are in the spring… when I don’t want snow at all. 🙂
