The Times, They Are A-Changin’

Well hello, Internet. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? The thing is, I’ve been job hunting. And it turns out, looking for a job is almost as time-consuming as having one…which means that while you’re trying to do one and looking for another, spare time is a rarity. The time I used to spend blogging and reading blogs became my time to search and apply for jobs. Plus, even when I did have a minute to blog, I had nothing really to talk about that wasn’t affected by my time-consuming job hunt, and I didn’t want to tell the Internet anything until I actually had a new job.

In case you didn’t figure this out by the fact that I’m blogging about it: I have a new job. And so does Jordan. Our  little school has been a good place for the last nine years,  but it’s time to move on. And here’s the exciting part: we’re moving WEST! (If you’re not from Colorado, you might need a reference point here: the mountains are west. This is great news). We’ll be moving to the Loveland area, and I’m all sorts of excited. I might have to change the name of this little blog, though, as Loveland is not exactly “rural.”

The next few weeks will be a frantic dash of getting our house listed and (fingers crossed) sold, then finding and (fingers crossed) buying one in our new area, but what an exciting mad dash it will be. I hope I’ll be back to more regular blogging soon, but I’ll be happy with once every couple of weeks while we do the mad dashing.

Here’s to new adventures!

Anybody in the Loveland area? Want to be my friend?

Have you ever sold your house? This is our first time selling. It’s a little nerve-racking.

  1. We’re so happy for you Cass! I don’t think it’s necessary for you to change the name of your blog given your upbringing. I think it fits you so well. And it’s fun to say! You can take the girl out of the country, but well, you know! Adventures are fun! Enjoy them!

  2. GO GIRL!!! Congratulations!!!! 🙂 Paul and I are vacationing in Colorado for the third year in a row! We are actually meeting a girl a met via my blog who lives in Loveland! She doesn’t blog, but she comments on mine every day for the last… 3 years? I feel like I know her. 🙂 We are doing Boulder, RMNP, Estes Park, and maybe Golden Gate Canyon. Any tips???

What will you be teaching at your new job? I once started looking for jobs when I thought we were going to move to CO. It was very stressful!!!

    1. I hope you see this reply… it took me a while to come check comments! Yay for another trip to CO! When are you coming? Golden Gate Canyon is nice; we camped there for my birthday last year. I think my favorite part of it was that there was no cell service, but that might be a concern for you, depending on how Paul is doing. And Rocky is one of my favorite places in the world! My biggest tip for both of them is if you’re hiking, start early, before the crowds! Rocky’s like any other national park: trails are packed for the first half mile or so, but then you’ll have them to yourself. Hike up to Dream Lake; it’s gorgeous! And if you have time to drive Trail Ridge Road and visit the Alpine Visitors Center, it’s worth doing. Also, don’t forget to bring a warm jacket. It can get really cold in the mountains any time of year.

Do you already have lodging booked for Estes? If not, I can recommend a few places for you. Send me an e-mail (cassiesonnenberg@gmail.com)! And if you want a really yummy dinner in Estes, try the Twin Owls Steak House. If you’ll be running, there’s a nice bike path around Lake Estes, and it’s probably the flattest spot to run up there.

      1. Thank you for those tips!!! I am pretty proud of myself that I had Trail Ridge Rd, the Alpine Visitors Center, AND Dream Lake on our itinerary!!! We are staying at Nicky’s Resort. I will look up the Twin Owls Steak House. I literally have no dinner plans for us at all, except figured we’d eat at The Stanley the night we take a tour there. 🙂 I run so shittily at elevation so that FLAT path may be good. 🙂 Thanks for all the recs!!! We touch down in Denver at 8am Thursday!
